CHAPTER TWELVE
Winter’s body began to tremble from the strain of their love making as thoughts swirled through her mind. He’d not stuttered. Not once. And he’d said things. Let me taste her. An electrical current struck her body at the memory of those words and the realization. They had both participated together. Again.
Confusion followed in the wake of the thought. Why would Reginald let him? Did Reginald let him? It sure sounded like a team effort. She tried to feel angry and betrayed, to associate it with the other orgies she’d been forced into for a dime.
Shame warmed her cheeks when she could feel nothing but aroused out of her mind over all of it. She’d been angry before so why not now? Because you realize they’re not two men, that’s why. And she needed to damn well maintain a grip on that reality and remember her plan and purpose. To figure which of them was the owner of their body. That was important to know. If Bones was the owner, then Reginald was merely a personality. And if Reginald was the owner, then Bones was a personality.
“Are you okay?”
She eyed him. Bones, she was sure. There was no stutter, and the kindness was forced. “I’m… stiff,” she said. A wave of sadness washed over her at the idea that Reginald was making him talk because he was too ashamed to stutter in front of her. Damn Bones and having that drink.
God, what was she thinking, they were the same person!
She considered Bones being owner of the body. He didn’t want anything but to fuck her and only did that because of Reginald. She didn’t want to be with a man that had to force himself to be with her and could only manage sex. That was the story of her life and one she’d not live again.
She wanted Reginald. That’s who she wanted.
But what if he wasn’t Reginald?
“You want a shower?”
The stiff tone definitely belonged to Bones but only Reginald would care if she had a shower. Unless Bones wanted her clean. She didn’t really want to know what kind of mishap Bones would become without Reginald. Like all the other animals she’d known.
“Reginald?” she finally whispered, needing to hear from him.
He stared at her from the kitchen chair, catching his breath. His eyes slowly rolled, like Bones was having a talk with him and didn’t like what he was saying.
“What’s going on?” She lowered her shaky body into the other chair a couple feet away, wincing the second her butt pressed into it. He’d sure left his mark.
“You okay?”
“No, I’m not okay,” she said, lowering her head. “I can tell it’s you, Bones.”
“I-I-I-m sorry.”
She looked up and her heart melted at seeing Reginald’s face, filled with anguish. “I-I-I wanted it p-p-p-perfect.”
“Oh God,” she whispered, feeling terrible as she hurried to him. “You are perfect,” she said holding his face in her hands. “Why do you doubt that?” She kissed him softly, over and over, relieved. She could forgive that.
